The release date is February 6th, 2024. The author, Kazu Kibuishi initially stated it would be released in 2018, although the release date got pushed back further to 2021 and 2022, seemingly due to Covid-19. In 2022, Kibuishi exclaimed that Book 9 will be the longest novel in the series, additionally [2] implying that the comic would take more time than the others naturally. Finally, in 2023, the author has said he is close to the completion, only coloring a few more panels, so a publication should be looming. Further information will be provided when posted on Kibuishi's twitter page.[3]

"Working on completing it now. Release date will be announced after it is completed." Kazu Kibuishi claimed in early 2024. The book is widely anticipated, as it is the last entry in the saga altogether, and no additional projects involving the cast of characters have been announced.

Recently, on Twitter, Kibuishi claimed that the book is already finished, but as a result of the long publishing process, will be released at around early 2024.[4] As of April 18th, 2023, Kazu has announced that the book is completed.[5] He has stated that working on extra materials and that he was preparing files for print, however it is still not going to be released for a while, according to him.
