You know layra didn't need to die so tragicly i like her too i gotta admit she is pretty cute everyone in my class says so too we collect lots of amulet books in our library. I also feel sorry for her because she tried to show Max something but he refused he can be a real bugger these days...
I actually cried a little bit when Layra died, some of my friends did too. I mean, would you cry if you tried to break your friend's parents and send them back to their home land, only then an airship uses a flame thrower or whatever to punish them for not pulling over? It hurts more since Max acted as if he had a crush on Layra.
Max dying was a fantastically written scene. Made me cry almost as much as I did when Layra died. This series is SAD. Anyone remember back in book one in the first pages when Emily's dad dies? That was heartbreaking.
As sad as I find Max and Layra's back story I have to say Layra's words before his death were a hundred percent accurate.Just think about it would sweet ,caring Laura want Max to live in a state of practical torture and slavery as well as kill thousands of people?NO or at least not the one that we witnessed via flashback. She would want him to move past it and manage to have the happiest ,most peaceful life as possible.Either way you can't tell me she wanted him to suddenly lose his temper and throw an ELF guard into next week and possibly a mountain top!
