Silas Charnon (サイラス・チャーノン Sairasu chānon) is a supporting character appearing in the Amulet graphic-novel series created by Kazu Kibuishi He was the husband of Isabel Charnon, the grandfather of Karen Hayes, and Emily and Navin Hayes' great-grandfather. An inventor of immense intellect, he created Miskit, Cogsley, Morrie, and all of the other robots that live in the Charnon House.
Just before Silas passed, he left all of his thoughts and memories in Miskit's databanks to assist him in teaching Emily about the properties of her Amulet and leading her down the right path. He left the stone's power to Emily entirely.
History[]
The Stonekeeper[]
Silas Charnon is first shown in The Stonekeeper, where Emily has her first and last meeting with him. He dies right after the meeting, and the stone's power is passed to Emily after her decision to accept the stone's power.
Silas onwards is only mentioned and appears in flashbacks thereafter, in future installments.
In the fourth volume, Vigo spoke about himself being once part of the Guardian Council with Silas and explaining, upon Miskit mentioning about the latter's exile, the actual reason behind said exile is because of the desire to destroy the Mother Stone; Silas believed that the stone could fall into the wrong hands if it's not going to be used, let alone leaving it as a last resort.
Prince of the Elves[]
Max spoke about him being removed from the Guardian Council.
Physical appearance[]
In The Stonekeeper, Silas is first shown through an old portrait in the house he owned, located on earth. In it, he has blonde, short hair, thin eyebrows, and wears round glasses with a tuxedo. Later in the book, when Emily and Navin meet him, he is much older, having become bald with a long white beard. He does not wear glasses in this scene, so his eyes are revealed. His right eye is black while his left eye is a mix of gray and cyan, with a white pupil and elongated triangles surrounding the pupil.
Personality[]
A kind and noble man that wished to make the world a better place. His care for Emily and Navin was evident, and he was also an experienced, accomplished inventor of electronics and trinkets alike.
