S.A.M. is the name of the type of humanoid robot Navin and Alyson pilot in Book 8, Supernova. They use this robot to travel to the surface of Typhon. S.A.M. is a relatively small robot, although it dwarfs even a mountain giant. S.A.M. is partially controlled by it's operators, although Cody, the autopilot, is used to automate most tasks. S.A.M. is capable of entering Typhon's atmosphere, and appears to wear large engines and wings similar to a backpack.
