Having read a tome of brothers Grimm and more recently the Sylvia Plath poem “Lady Lazarus”
1. Jorinde and joringel:
the former is turned into a bird and the latter has to save her.
2. Lady Lazarus:
I rise with my red hair/and I eat men like air
Red hair = hey, who has red hair?
Eat men like air = very dangerous.
Towards the end of that poem, Plath makes references to the phoenix. (The poem describes how she repeatedly attempts suicide. She had chronic depression.)
